Matungulu MP Mutinda Mule has backed the recent proposal of having Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga as NASA flag bearer and Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka his running mate ahead of the August General polls, reports Mediamaxnetwork.

Addressing residents during the commissioning of Kyaume dispensary in his constituency, Mule said that Raila is the best candidate the opposition can front to battle it with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, adding that he will deliver the seat if Kalonzo is named his running mate.

According to Mule Raila’s popularity in the nation gives him an upper hand over Kalonzo. The remarks of the legislator come at a time when leaders from Ukambani have threatened to walk out of NASA in the event that Kalonzo is not chosen the flag bearer.

Raila and other leaders of the opposition have insisted that there is room for all the four principals.

Kalonzo has proposed for the call for a referendum to change the constitution in order to create room for other principals in the alliance if they win in August.

“We will go to the people of this country and try to remind them that a Constitution is not a static document. It has to respond to the political environment as well as aspirations of the people. We will create the Office of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister,” Kalonzo.
