Konoin MP Brighton Yegon has accused multi-national tea companies of victimizing workers despite court order barring the firms from doing so.
The lawmaker defended the workers who are on strike saying they had a right to demand better renumeration through their unions.
He said the workers deserves salary increment as by the CBAs of 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017.
The court barred the companies from dismissing or victimizing the workers on the basis of strike but some workers have been sacked by companies such as Unilever, George Williamson and James Finlay.
"We met with unilever and finlay management and agreed they should hold talks with workers to stop the intimidation and victimizing workers since they have the rights to bargain for better terms," said the MP.
Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli also supported the strike and urged workers not to return to work.
