Matungulu MP Stephen Mule has blasted Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua over poor drainage.
Speaking to residents in Matungulu Town on Saturday, Mule accused governor Mutua of engaging in Public Relations (PR) stunts instead of working to address poor drainage and road networks .
He said that the pathetic drainage system and poor road networks remains serious issues in the constituency.
The MP said that the heavy rain's pounding in the area that saw River Athi burst its banks causing floods exposed Governor Mutua's poor development .
The MP said that locals are counting heavy loses as a result of the Thursday last week flooding.
"Governor Alfred Mutua should get serious on his work and end this perennial poor drainage system issues," he said.
Mule noted that locals in some estates within the constituency cannot access or get out of their homes because of flooded water.
He added that some businesses have been submerged in flood water.
The Wiper lawmaker called on the county government and relevant national government agencies to move with speed and repair drainage and roads .
Governor Mutua has, however, defended his administration, saying that proper drainage system has been carried out across the county.
On Friday morning, four bodies were retrieved from Kamulu-Joska bridge.
The four are said to have been swept by flooding water as they tried to cross swollen Athi River that burst its banks.
The weatherman says that heavy rain's will continue to pound in the coming week as Kenyans are urged to exercise caution.
