Ganze Member of Parliament Teddy Mwambire has blocked all plans to relocate Mitangani Primary school located in Jaribuni Ward within his constituency.
Mwambire said that the plans were ill-motivated since no proper reasons were given as to why his predecessor Safari Peter Shee wanted to relocate the school.
He said that reasons given by some of the parents that the area had few children were very petty and all children should get an education in a school closer to them.
He was addressing aggrieved parents at Mitangani area in Jaribuni ward on Sunday.
Mwambire said that the primary school with over 300 children will never be relocated to any other place or merged with another primary school elsewhere since children in Ganze constituency have been walking long distances to get an education.
“My elders do not worry, Mitangani primary will not be relocated since no proper reasons were given to us the Ministry of Education will not do that” he assured the parents.
Mwambire said that all children within Ganze constituency should get basic education closer to their homes and not be forced to walk more than 10 kilometers to attend schools.
He said that more primary schools need to be constructed in the area so that children can easily access education.
“I do not know what was going in the mind of my predecessor to reach such a pathetic decision, but we are all here for a solution, Mitangani primary school will remain at Mitangani area” he assured the parents.
He said until proper consultation with the parents and him as the area MP is done, and adequate and convincing reasons are given is when the area residents will make their independent judgment.
