Mbeere North MP Charles Njagagua has announced his defection from Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement ahead of the August general poll.

Njagagua had joined Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua led party alongside Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti and Deputy Governor Dorothy Nditi in early February only to declare his defection back to Jubilee before two months could elapse.

Sources indicate that Njagagua had been agreeing with Kivuti over various matters and apparently the senator influenced his decision to cross over to MCC.

Speaking after his defection, Njagagua said that he intends to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in the forthcoming general polls, adding that he can only do so if he is in Jubilee Party.

The outspoken said that his decision to go back to Jubilee is well thought,, arguing that most of the residents in his area are backing the re-election of UhURuto under Jubilee.

The defection of Njagagua is a loss to Mutua who is seeking to rise to power in 2022 using MCC ticket.  The governor’s party has continued to receive defectors from both the ruling party and opposition.
