The Orange Democratic Movement rebels from Gusii region should resign and seek fresh mandate instead of fighting the party from within, insists Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire.

The region voted overwhelmingly for opposition leader Raila Odinga and the Jubilee government has been keen on capturing it with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto making numerous trips to hunt for votes since 2013.

And now Bosire who also doubles as the ODM national treasurer has accused the rebels of being ‘cowards’ and insisted that they should quit or face pressure from the party since they were derailing the party agenda.

“Sometimes I hear some people saying they have quit the party and so forth. To me, quitting means you write to the Speaker of the National Assembly who will later declare the seat vacant so that the concerned person seeks a fresh mandate from electorate,” he said.

“They should have quit if indeed they are serious or we force them to do it. We cannot allow people wearing our shirts and drumming support for an opponent. If they cannot make a quick decision to leave, we are going to make it happen. You are either with us or them in the struggle,” he added.

Bosire slammed the rebels accusing them of pushing for their selfish interests by drumming support for the Jubilee government.

“You cannot say you have quit yet you are still a member of the party. Such kind of rhetoric is useless and it’s time for them to leave us alone and advance their selfish interests in Jubilee,” he said.

Among the leaders who have shown intentions of leaving the Orange party include Kisii Senator Chris Obure and Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka among several MCAs.
