Raila has been traversing his traditional strongholds since Monday and is expected to culminate his tour on Friday in Kakamega County, in a trip that Wetangula questioned why he wasn’t invited as Cord co-principal.

And on Friday, Bosire insisted that the trip was ‘purely’ a party affair and had nothing to do with the opposition coalition Cord.

“The ODM party has structures and policies just like our partners Ford Kenya and Wiper Democratic Movement. This was purely a party affair and not a coalition matter,” he said.

“The trip had been organised many months ago contrary to what I hear people saying. We are not fighting party rebels but consolidating our support. What’s more important is that we also have elected people in western and they played host to all of us,” he added.

While he skipped commenting on Senator Wetangula’s remarks, Bosire said all Cord affiliate party members were notified in advance about the trip.

“However much it was a purely ODM affair, I want to insist that it was open to all our friends and that is why Hassan (Omar), the Wiper Secretary General has been part of the crew traversing western region,” he said.
