Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has dismissed the Jubilee Party campaign team for Gusiiland saying they are only championing their own interests.
According to the Daily Nation, Bosire said the leaders from both Nyamira and Kisii counties lack political backing from their areas and won't deliver votes for President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto in the 2017 elections.
He said the region is firmly in Cord, adding that the said leaders were campaigning for Jubilee not to help President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto win but to make money from them.
"They are on a desperate mission to sell a party that enjoys little support in the region," said Bosire as quoted by the Daily Nation.
The ODM national treasurer said he was disappointed by some leaders from the region who recently decamped to Jubilee Party after being strong supporters of opposition leader Raila Odinga in the past.
“It is shameful that even some of the leaders we had thought could not be bought are now singing Jubilee songs over a cup of vegetable soup,” he said.
The Jubilee team, led by former Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) chairman Charles Nyachae, has already started campaigning for Uhuru's reelection in the 2017 polls.
Nyachae is being assisted by former Assistant minister and ODM nominated MP for East Africa Legislative Assembly Joseph Kiangoi and Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi.
