Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has received backing from Nyamira county assembly deputy leader of Majority James Matinga who insists the outspoken legislature has insignificant opposition and will easily trounce his rivals in the 2017 polls.
Bosire, a close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga, was recently locked up with six other legislators at the Pangani police station over hate speech and is also a fierce critic of the Jubilee government.
On Thursday, Matinga said the MP will beat his opponents easily given his track record on development and dedication towards fighting social injustices.
“I don’t see Bosire losing his seat because he has weak opponents and is strongly backed by a good development record. He has initiated many roads and even contributed towards infrastructural development,” he said.
“He has also stood firm on matters national justice and through that, we believe that he ha represented our constituency well. Despite the government hostility towards him, I am sure the people of Bogetutu will elect him easily for the second time,” he said during a rally at Motembe on Wednesday.
Bosire is facing opposition from city lawyer, Shadrack Ogeto and humanitarian Victor Swanya, in a constituency that has a history of electing MPs for a single term, other than the late George Anyona who led the constituency for 14 years.
