Nyaribabri Chache constituency MP Richard Tong’i has called upon the National Construction Authority and the government to ensure that they blacklist shoddy contractors.
Speaking on Sunday while inspecting various projects in his are the MP said it’s high time the government cracks a whip on contractors who has failed to complete projects on time despite the fact that they have been paid.
“Most of the project that have been funded by both the National and County governments are currently on halt and we would like to ensure that those contractors involved are blacklisted and others given the jobs,” he added.
The MP cited that the same contractors have the tendency of delivering shoddy work due to the pressure of failing to deliver the projects on time.
Tong'i, however, said that he will push for a law that will see all the contractors who fail to deliver government projects on time are blacklisted without further warning and no payment should be made before they deliver.
