Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has called for a constitutional amendment that will see the revision of the election date.

Speaking on Citizen Tv on Tuesday, the Jubilee lawmaker noted that the current August 8 poll date has inconvenienced the country greatly by halting key activities and as such should be revised.

"Possibly what we need is to revise this date and see whether we can have a better date that will be in harmony with the other national exercises like the examinations because we the country cannot be held hostage.In the closing stage of the 11th parliament we tried to debate abiut this issue but we political stakes took over and we could not do much," he said.

The MP further asked political players in the country to be flexible noting that the current hardline stance taken by both Nasa and Jubilee regarding the October 17 repeat polls could spell a crisis for the country.

" We must learn to be flexible.Let us not be slaves of our political parties because it is us who made this constitution.Where we need to dialogues and resolve we should gladly do so for the bettetment of our contry," he said.
