Geni who was speaking to this writer during a phone interview said that consultation between the two principals will ease political rivalry during the selection of new commissioners.

“A political problem should be handled politically. Kenya will solve election disputes if the top presidential contenders sit down and consult on the selection of IEBC officials. That is the only way we can end presidential election disputes,” he said.

“I want to urge the President to consult Odinga so that they arrive at a common conclusion list that should conduct 2017 elections without suspicions. The deal will bring trust to some extent between the government and us in opposition,” he added.

The cord principal had shared similar sentiments when he received a report on Joint Senate and National Assembly Committee that was mandated to spearhead electral reforms in the country.

The current IEBC commissioners are set to leave office after a politically negotiated deal following weeks of unrest by opposition supporters who accused them of bias.
