Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarup Mishra has called for dialogue between the Ministry of Education and lecturers to end the ongoing strike.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town, Mishra said the ongoing strike that has lasted for over a month now is putting the future of thousands of university students at risk.
"I want to urge the Ministry of Education and the striking lecturers to sit down and dialogue over this matter. It is only through dialogue that this stalemate will be solved and lecturers resume their duties," he said in Eldoret town, Sunday.
"The lecturers' demands which are practical should be implemented and those which are not practical should be postponed to a later date. I am not happy when thousands of students are staying at home without learning. The government should work at speed to end this strike as soon as possible," added the Kesses legislator.
He also challenged relevant stakeholders to work towards ensuring no more strike affect learning in public universities in future.
The Jubilee MP said an amicable solution should be reached to avoid regular industrial actions that have been a normal practice in the country.
