Subukia Member of Parliament Nelson Gaichuhie wants authorities to investigate claims made by a group of internally displaced persons in his constituency that NACADA chairman John Mututho dumped them in Mumoi area after he failed to fulfill his promise of resettling them there after the 2002/2008 post poll chaos.

Addressing the IDPS who had sought his intervention at Subukia town on Thursday, Gaichuhie said that he cannot tell if the claims are true or not and called on the government to address the issue.

Gaichuhie said that he has no powers to handle the issue but the best he can do is to seek for answers from the government through the ministry of devolution which is in charge of IDPs.

“At the moment I cannot get deep into this issue because I do not have a clear picture of how you landed here but I will push the ministry of devolution to investigate and come up with a solution as fast as they can because the conditions you are living in are deplorable,” said Gaichuhie.

The MP promised to get in touch with the Nakuru County Commissioner to see if he can supply some food donations to the IDPs.

“I will go personally to the commissioner’s office and ask him to get you some food urgently as the matter is sorted out,” he added.

The IDPS through the National IDP chairman Peter Kariuki claim that Mututho convinced them to go to Mumoi from Naivasha where they first settled after being evicted from Eldoret during the 2007/2008 violence.
