Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma has moved a motion of no confidence against Sports, Culture and Arts CS Hassan Wario.
Kaluma accused Wario of continued mismanagement of the ministry, saying the move has brought shame and dishonour to the nation, as demonstrated in the current fiasco at the country's Olympic camp in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.
The MP called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to dismiss Wario from the CS position, citing gross misconduct and violation of the Constitution.
This comes after a section of Rift Valley legislators called for the resignation of the CS over the different scandals that have been witnessed in Rio.
Led by Nandi Senator Stephen Sang, the legislators urged Wario to step aside to allow investigations into the matter.
“This is a scandal that as a country we must address and investigate. An audit should be done in order to know names of officials who went to Rio leaving behind coaches who were expected to accompany team Kenya,” said Sang.
On his part, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot said as leaders from counties which depend on athletics, they will not sit down and watch as the CS continues to 'sleep' on his job.
Some of the problems that the Kenyan camp has been faced with include doping allegations against top officials, lack of accreditation and accommodation, insufficient training kits and questionable allocation of slots.
