Fafi constituency MP Barre Shill has asked top security agencies in the country to increase surveillance along borders following the Friday terror attack on Kenya Defense Forces camp at Kulbiyow in Somalia.

The MP says that security agencies must up their intelligence and firmly deal with terror groups and other criminal agents as the country gears up to the general elections.

“Top security agencies need to work around the clock and tame terror threats especially this time county is heading to the general elections,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Barre warned that any laxity among top agencies will expose the country to terror threats.

“The government must increase surveillance and deal firmly with terror criminals,” he added.

The Fafi constituency lawmaker also asked the government to sensitize locals on the need for Nyumba Kumi security initiative.

He observed that many locals in North Eastern region are not familiar with Nyumba Kumi security initiative, a move he said has led to increased terror acts.

The MP stated that the country will be assured of its security if proper security measures are put in place to tame terror and criminal agents.

On Friday, Al Shabaab militia group attacked a KDF camp in Kulbiyow in Somalia.

According to the government, nine KDF soldiers were massacred during the dawn attack, with over 70 Al Shabaab.
