Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi has called for the sacking top police officials in Nyanza over police killings during the anti-IEBC protests.

In a statement on Tuesday, the lawmaker accused security apparatus of ethnically profiling the protesters during the demonstrations.

"[What is] more worrying is the emerging pattern of ethnic profiling targeting members of the Luo community in the ongoing illegal police crackdown in the region. In fact, the current situation bears the hallmarks of genocide in the making. We must put a stop to this," he stated.

Wandayi took issue with regional coordinator Wilson Njega and police commander Leonard Katana, accusing the pair of failing in their duty to protect the lives and property of citizens.

"In these circumstances, we demand the immediate resignation of Njega, Katana and all the county commissioners," he said.

The legislator's calls comes in the backdrop of the death of an 18-year old student who was shot-dead in Kisumu on Monday by the police.
