William Chepkut Chirchir, Ainabkoi MP in a private motion proposes Athletics Endowment and Remuneration Fund will be of beneficial for sportsmen and women who made the country proud.
"Several sports persons after they retire are languishing in poverty due to lack of support and poor financial and personal management skills," he said.
The lawmaker argued that the establishment of a fund among other things will provide support for the sports persons upon retirement.
The motion aims to urge athletes to make good investment while they are still active in sports activities.

"Most sportsmen and women participate in national and local sports activities while young but in return they are not honored well by the government," he said.
