Ruiru MP Mburu Kahangara has come up to advocate for the admission of well performing students in Kiambu to National Schools.
Speaking at St Joseph Worker High School, Kahangara said that in both 2013 and 2014 very few students that performed quite well were shut out of national schools in the county. He stated that although admissions were better this year the county was not satisfied.
“As per our agreement with the Ministry of Education, we were supposed to have 40 per cent of the students join national schools but they only gave us 30 per cent,” he said.
The MP was opening two-storey classrooms funded by CDF at the institution. He said that the constituencies KCPE mean score had improved from 241 marks to 251 but only 5 students were admitted to national schools.
He further urged parents to support the plans by the government to improve the standard and quality of education in a bid to get better grades from the students. National schools in Kiambu include Loreto High, Alliance High, Alliance Girls, Limuru Girls, Starehe Girls, Loreto High and St Anne’s Lioki.
