Gikaria appeared before Chief Magistrate David Kemei to answer to charges of demolishing a perimeter wall around a parcel of land under dispute.

Through lawyer Paschal Mbeche, Gikaria told the court that he has been receiving threats from the illegal Mungiki sect whom he alleged are sent by the management of the ENSE Company.

"I want to go on record that the MP has received numerous death threats. I ask the court to direct my client be given enough security and be escorted to record statements," Mbeche said.

The prosecutor, Hillary Sungoiyo said that the claims cannot be authenticated since the MP did not furnish the court with the OB Number if indeed he has received the threats.

The MP engaged the prosecutor by defying to speak through his lawyer and told the court that the prosecutor should not take the threats rightly saying that he will be culpable in the event anything harmful happens to him.

"You honour, the prosecutor should take responsibility if anything happens to me. It is the same Mungiki who are his witnesses in this case and he takes the death threats rightly. The former Kabete MP George Muchai had received similar threats and two days later he was killed. What will he do if the next mention of this case I don't appear? He must be accountable for downplaying my threats," said the angry MP.

It took the intervention of the magistrate to calm the storm.

"What I can help you for now is that you go to the police and record statements and the matter will be investigated," said Hon Kemei.

Apparently, the complainants lawyer, Gordon Ogolla said that his client too received threats of a planned arson of his petrol station and said they had recorded statements
