While addressing small-scale traders in Nakuru town, the MP urged them to adhere to county by laws to ensure their businesses are not interrupted.

He said evading tax payment is against the law and that action will be taken against hawkers who fail to remit their dues as stipulated by the law.

“I want to ask you to pay your taxes and licence renewal fees. This is to ensure that you can get better services,” he said.

The lawmaker said that the county government depends on levies collected from hawkers to operationalise activities, such as cleaning of the town.

At the same time, the legislator called on the county government to ensure adequate security in Nakuru town and its environs, saying he has received insecurity complaints from local traders.

The MP further asked the county to fast-track the renovation of markets, especially drainage systems and garbage collection. This, he said, will ensure businesspeople are not interfered with when carrying out their activities.
