Juja MP Francis Munyua has cautioned youth in the constituency against being lured into joining terror and criminal groups.

Speaking to residents at Gachororo shopping centre in Juja on Tuesday, the MP asked youth to shun criminal and terror activities saying that they will ruin their lives.

The MP said that joining criminal gangs will not help address the problems facing young people but will rather worsen their situations.

“With cases of youth radicalisation being reported in some parts of the country, I would want to caution youth in this area against being lured into criminal and terror groups,” said Munyua.

The Juja lawmaker said that the issue of radicalisation is real and urged parents to mentor their children well.

He said that parents and the community can help curb radicalisation noting that most parents have abandoned their roles.

“We must talk to our children and tell them what is good and bad,” said the MP.

The Juja lawmaker asked youths in the constituency to apply for development funds instead of opting to join criminal gangs.

He noted that the national and the county governments are giving out development money to youth, women and persons with disabilities, adding that the area will realise socio-economic growth if young people engage in development.
