Speaking at Nakuru town on Saturday, the MP claimed that some politicians are already using the ongoing ICC cases to spearhead their personal interests and agenda.

“It’s unfortunate that some politicians with selfish interests are seeking support through the ICC cases facing President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang,” the lawmaker said.

Gikaria said that they are ready to accompany President Kenyatta to The Hague for the status conference scheduled for Wednesday.

He asked residents to be calm, saying that they will not allow anyone to intimidate the president in a foreign land.

The MP accused former ICC Prosecutor Moreno Ocampo of conducting shoddy investigations and using false evidence in the case facing the president.

He expressed optimism that the ICC will drop charges against the president and his deputy.

President Kenyatta is today addressing a joint meeting of the senate and national assembly regarding summons to appear, in person, at The Hague-based court over his alleged role in the post-election violence of December 2007.
