Speaking today (Sunday) at Rioma Village during a fundraising ceremony, MP Angwenyi lamented that only 20% of the fund designated to his Constituency had been absorbed contrary to his expectations.

He asked youths to stop complaining on lack of employment yet the government had opened other avenues to deal with unemployment rates in the country.

Angwenyi attributed the low absorption rate to the narrative that after getting higher education, people should get white collar jobs.

“I am a sad man on what I am seeing in projects that the government has set for youths. The Uwezo Fund has not been utilised by youths from this constituency. There is no interest rate charged, yet people are not willing to go for it,” wondered Angwenyi.

MP Angwenyi urged the area youths to stop thinking that after school it is a guarantee that they will get employment.

“In fact, most successful people are those who are self-employed and we should follow the same,” said Angwenyi.

He asked youths to form groups to benefit from the Fund Kitty before it is taken back to the Treasury for accountability purposes and in compliance with the law.

“Those who have not formed groups should do so before the money is returned to Treasury. It is crucial that you do so for your own benefit,” said Angwenyi.
