Molo Member of Parliament Jacob Macharia has challenged youth and women in the constituency to work with leaders to foster development.

Speaking at Molo town on Friday, the MP asked women and youth to be on the frontline in development. He said that the government has recognised the role youths and women can play on matters development.

“I urge women and youth to seek development funds and work with the government to promote development,” he said.

The lawmaker added that the government has put in place measures including provision of development funds for the people.

“The money being given by the government will play a key role in ending unemployment that is rampant among the youth,” he said.

He at the same time asked university graduates in the area to stop tarmacking for white collar jobs and instead think of creating employment opportunities.

The MP said: “Many graduates are released to the market every year yet there are few job opportunities. The government should initiate more measures that will create job opportunities.”

Meanwhile, the lawmaker asked needy students in the constituency to apply for bursary funds.

He said it is the only way through which they can further their studies and contribute to socio-economic development.
