Area MP Richard Tong’i said the worrying trend would lock out many youths who are currently unemployed.

“We are very worried because the youths seem to be disinterested in getting the loans which can improve their living standards,” he said.

He called on the youths to apply for the loans as a group and benefit from the kitty which has been rolled out countrywide.

Tong’i said the money was distributed to the first batch of 31 groups who had applied for the cash and soon the second batch would follow.

“We have not finalised the whole disbursement. Other groups should wait for their turn without any bitterness,” said Tong’i.

He was speaking on Wednesday while inspecting ongoing constructions of the modern school multipurpose hall for Irungu P.A.G secondary school in Ibeno ward.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the money wisely and engage in intended projects of the groups for sustainable development.

He said the residents should strive to have a producer and not consumer economy to generate self employment and improve their lives.
