Matungulu MP Stephen Mule on Saturday commissioned a Sh24 million worth dining hall at Matungulu Girls High School in Machakos County.
Mule said the entire dining hall was constructed by the Matungulu Constituency Development Fund.
He said the school had lacked a dining hall for close to 20 years despite being established 52 years ago.
Mule addressed the press at the school's compound during the event.
According to the school's principal Peninah Mutiso, the students were forced to eat from outside which posed a challenge especially during adverse weather conditions.
Mutiso said most of the structures in the school were constructed in 1920's stating they were unfit for usage by the 21st century students.
‘’The school with a population of over 500 students we’re forced to eat from outside, under trees, such a distasteful sight," Said Mutiso.
She lauded the MP for offering a helping hand.
Mule said he will use Sh40 million from the CDF kitty to construct libraries in three schools within Matungulu constituency namely; Kinyui Boys, Tala Boys and Tala Girls High Schools.
The Wiper MP said he was on a mission to de-congest secondary schools in his constituency by launching new ones to reduce walking distance alongside promoting education in the Sub County.
