North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko said the recent arrest of Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri is a move aimed at threatening the lives of leaders.

“Police officers have failed in their work to protect the borders of this country but only good in harassing unarmed people. MPs should be respected because they were elected to serve the electorates,” he said.

He said Obiri was arrested from a Nairobi hotel on Saturday where he was taking his lunch by over 15 armed police officers who said they were under instructions not to reveal the police station they were taking the MP to.

“Obiri has been at the forefront fighting cartels in his constituency but it is unfortunate that the cartels have bribed police bosses so that they can harass MPs. We can’t accept any of us to be blackmailed by cartels,” he said.

He called on Interior Cs Fred Matiang’i to take a legal action against the officers who frog matched the MP in the name of conducting their duties as by the law.
