K’Oyoo said the death has robbed his constituency of children who would be future leaders on this country. He said the accident has claimed the lives of young souls and told their families to take heart.

“I am sad following the accident, it is extremely sad for my people and for my constituent. I mourn with the families and ask them to remain steadfast praying,” he said.

Speaking in Kisumu on Wednesday to the press, K’Oyoo told the police to remain vigilant on the roads instead of taking bribes. He said that there are a number of police traffic officers along the road yet their only work is to collect bribes.

The MP told the officers to mind their work since they are being paid by taxpayers’ money.

He called for the erection of road bumps in most places within the road to regulate the speed of vehicles along the road.

“It is bad for the police officers only to collect bribes on every vehicle passing instead of regulating some traffic rules on the road,” he said.

K’Oyoo said it is difficult to come to terms to the deaths of the five pupils who were killed in the accident.

Police are still holding the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident and he will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
