Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura has said Jubilee Party has disappointed him after it shelved plans to use the much-touted smart card in its forthcoming party nominations.
Addressing the press in Ruiru Girls High School on Thursday, Mwaura, who is eyeing Ruiru parliamentary seat, faulted the decision to stop using the cards.
“I have invested heavily in acquiring Jubilee membership cards for Ruiru residents to enable them to participate in Jubilee primaries slated for next month,” said the Mwaura.
The legislator who defected from ODM last year said using the membership cards would ensure free and fair elections by locking out those who are not party members.
“All aspirants are seeking credible nominations exercise. Any other method that is not free and fair will spell doom for the young party,” Mwaura said.
Kiambu is among the counties Jubilee National Elections Board (NEB) has suspended use of party's smart card and instead use national identity cards.
