With the clock ticking to next year's election, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has been challenged to either join the Cord coalition or Jubilee to remain politically relevant.
According to Mumias East legislator Benjamin Washiali, 2017 will be a two-horse race between the ruling Jubilee coalition and the opposition Cord coalition.
"For our brother to Musalia Mudavadi to survive the political wave, he needs to be in Jubilee or Cord. But Jubilee is the best house for him," Washiali was quoted by the Star as saying.
The lawmaker said the political sea-saw of the region that has in the past been seen as an opposition zone is tilting towards the Jubilee side because they are tired of being in opposition every time.
He added that Jubilee is a coalition to watch out keenly as it enjoys support across the country.
"The seismic wave in the region is indicating that the people of Western are tired of doing the same things over and again. They are out to bring change this time round," he added.
Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe challenged Cord to dissolve all its affiliate parties to form one formidable political party to take on President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2017.
