Residents of Borabu constituency have defended their MP for allegedly working with embattled Nyamira Governor  John Nyagarama.

Speaking on Thursday at Nyabara Ibere during a funeral ceremony, speaker after speaker accused political adversaries of MP Ben Momanyi of engaging in petty politics.

According to them, all elected leaders have an obligation to work together with the county leadership to spur development for all locals, besides initiating projects that could improve livelihoods of residents.

“The core function of all elected leaders is to work with the day’s government to spur development to his or her constituents. We are very happy of our MP and those accusing him of working with the governor should keep off. Time has come for us to desist from waging political wars,” said veteran politician John Kegori.

They vowed to support all development initiatives launched by both Momanyi and the county government but supported need for all elected leaders to be accountable.

“We don’t support corruption and every leader must show his or her innocence when it comes to accountability. However, we are very happy of our MP because he is very sensitive when it comes to development issues,” added Michal Nyasing’a.

This comes a few weeks after four MPs from Nyamira clashed with Governor Nyagarama over corruption related issues in which Borabu MP Momanyi was conspicuously absent.
