Kacheliba Member of Parliament, Mark Lumuno, yesterday defended the judiciary saying that the institution is not corrupt as many had thought.
His call comes against the backdrop of too many cases being thrown out and millions of shillings slapped against petition losers.
Besides that, there have also been castigations from different factions especially those who lost petition cases and paid heavy petition fines.
John Lodinyo had filed a petition against the election of Mark Lumuno citing irregularities.
Speaking at Kapenguria, after the Kitale High Court upheld his election, the legislator said,"Today is the day that I have witnessed that our Judicial system is not corrupt as many had thought. The ruling on my case has finally been made without me paying anything."
However, those who lost such petitions have a different view, on the contrary, claiming the Judiciary is being manipulated and run by the government of the day.
Alfred Keter, who lost his seat after the presiding judge George Kimondo sited irregularities.
In response to that final ruling, Keter claimed the ruling was made out of political witch hunt because of his opposing stands and criticism of the government.
"This started a long time ago because am against corruption.I know those who want to grab Nandi hills." Keter said.
Elsewhere in Nairobi, Embakasi East elected MP Paul Ongili lost his seat after a petition filed against his election was successful.
Talking to media, Babu Owini allegedly claimed his loss was as a result of a fight waged on him by the President and the deputy president.
"I know that this is a war between the president, the deputy president, and Babu Owino."
The young politician claimed. However, the controversial former University of Nairobi student leader promised to appeal the case.
Many election petition losers have in most cases said to have respected court ruling though they do not agree with it.
This just shows the extent to which the decisions made by courts concerning election petitions are negatively viewed.
