Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi, the Chama Cha Uzalendo Party vice-chairman, has come out to defend former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti after her nomination was canceled on the grounds that she belonged to two political outfits.

The lawmaker argues that the Machakos Gubernatorial aspirant ceased being a member of the political movement after she agreed to join Wiper Party under the leadership of Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.

He also described the action of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as political witch-haunt following the move.

"As the CCU national vice-chairman, I want to confirm that Ms Wavinya Ndeti resigned as the party leader the moment she signed an agreement with the Wiper party,” said Mr Mwangangi, as quoted by Nation.

On her part, Ndeti said that she did not belong to  more than one political party at the time she presented her nomination papers to contest for the seat in the August general elections.

"When I was cleared by the IEBC they checked which party I belonged to. I did not belong to two parties. That is the truth and the truth will eventually prevail," said Ms Ndeti by phone.

The removal of Ndeti from the race has given the incumbent Dr Alfred Mutua reprieve since he stands a better chance to win the seat.
