Turbo lawmaker Elisha Busienei has given the Nation Media Group five days to accept 100 per cent liability over a clip it aired purporting that the he had been arrested.
It was reported he was arrested after he was found with marked ballot papers. According to the MP, the information was false, malicious and damaging.
In a letter addressed to NMG managing director, the MP through Arap Mitei and Company advocates says the clip injured his reputation in the eyes of right thinking members of the public.
The clip was aired by NTV during April 21, botched nomination exercise.
“We find that the clip and words used as utter lies and has greatly injured the good reputation of our client in the eyes of right thinking members of society who ridiculed, shunned, scandalized our client and even given room other malicious persons to further injure and damage the reputation of our client considering the nature of work he does,” reads part of the letter dated April 24, 2017.
“His opponents are capitalizing on this and has greatly injured our client who is an aspirant for Turbo parliamentary seat,” adds the letter.
As per the MP's account, at the time of alleged arrest, he was at his residence with his immediate family members.
“Take notice therefore that unless you accept 100% liability so that the quantum of assessment of damages may be gone into within 5 days from today's date, we have firm and mandatory instructions to institute legal against you at your own peril as to costs and consequences related thereto and incidental therefrom without any further reference to you,” the MP said through his lawyer.
