Kisii county government under the leadership on Governor James Ongwae has been called upon to ensure that they account on the implementation of development projects funded by the county government for the last three years.
The Nyaribabari Chache legislator Richard Tong'i who was speaking during a burial yesterday evening at Keumbu ward said accountability and transparency are paramount for success.
“We have all seen how I have been closely working with the national government and now we have many ongoing projects in the constituency," said Tong'i.
"I am optimistic they will end on time, the same way we want the county government to ensure they lead as an example,” he added.
He also called upon the area senator to ensure that he does his oversight role as the national treasury allocated the Senators more than Sh300 million in February 2016 through a supplementary budget to monitor and evaluate how governors are managing counties.
He said the money is shared equally among the 47 counties and would be used to monitor the activities of the county bosses before the expiry of the financial year 2015/2016 in June.
The legislator called on the residents to ensure they are vigilant and keep an eye on the ongoing projects so that they can be completed on time.
