A Nyamira MP has vehemently denied claims that he failed to give bus fare to a group of women who had attended a graduation ceremony for their loved one from a seminary school in Nairobi.

Mr Ben Momanyi came under scrutiny from a section of social media users who accused him of dumping the women after promising to pay for their fare back home after a long journey from Mogusii village only to fail in honoring his promise.

But in a phone interview, Momanyi accused the social media users saying he had cleared the said group once they were in Nairobi.

“I am really disgusted with information circulating online that I ferried old women to Nairobi and failed to give them fare back home. Those allegations are outrageous and can never happen under my watch,” he said.

“I paid Sh10,000 to one of the organisers and rumors that they were stuck in Nairobi for three days are untrue unless they had some other engagements. I have not heard complaints from any of them other than appreciation,” he added.

Mrs Agnes Mose who was among the organising committee of the team has since denied claims that the MP abandoned them in Nairobi.

“I want to confirm that we received the promised support from our MP contrary to the information we are receiving," said Mose.

"The delay in Nairobi was due to a little confusion on our departure plans because we had intended to leave the same day but delayed because the owner of the matatu had wrong information that we were leaving the following day,” she said.

The group of 15 women was scheduled to travel on Friday but their trip was postponed to Sunday a reason why a number of social media users took the MP head-on.
