North Mugirango lawmaker Charles Geni on Tuesday dismissed the merger stating that the parties under Jubilee Party have been working together since 2013.

“I am surprised that the media should give publicity to a such kind of ceremony in the name of political merger. That was pure non sense because many of these parties have been working together for a long time,” he said.

“It was not news because we know what is behind the plot. It has nothing to do with uniting Kenyans because the same government has been discriminating a section of Kenyan communities who are in the opposition,” he added.

He said the move was purely a scheme of preparing for 2017 polls and accused the president of limiting political space to Kenyan politicians.

“The president is crafting on how to bounce back in 2017 and that is why he is forming a new outfit In the name of re-branding himself. He is unknowingly trying to limit political freedom to many politicians as enshrined in the constitution,” he said.

The Jubilee leadership has been pushing for a common single party that according to them would bring more Kenyans on board and foster unity ahead of 2017 polls.
