Mavoko MP Patrick Makau on Wednesday donated 400 goats, maize and baking flour to residents for what he termed a treat to their elections victory celebrations.
Makau said the donations were to enable the locals feast as a gesture of appreciation for their support towards his re-election for a second term as the area MP.
Mavoko constituency has four wards, they include Athi River, Mlolongo, Kinanie and Katani.
He addressed the residents during his thanksgiving ceremony at Mavoko Stadium in Athi River town.
The goats were brought into the stadium from Garissa County at 6.00 am, they were ferried in a lorry.
They were issued to the residents in groups of less than seven people each.
Makau said the celebrations were also meant to unite locals and promote peace among themselves after the grueling elections concluded on August 8.
“The elections are now behind us, let’s continue living in peace as a Mavoko family and embrace good brotherhood and sisterhood,” said Makau.
Makau said he will continue serving the constituents without discrimination.
Residents praised the MP for his kind gesture describing him as an ‘exceptional’ being.
“We have always elected leaders including MCAs, senators, woman representative and governor but we have never witnessed such an appreciation,” said resident James Mutua.
Mutua said the leaders befriend residents when mobilizing for votes and disappear once elected to various positions only to re-appear after five years for re-election.
He said they adore Makau not because of anything, but his kind heart. “He is a generous leader who is always available to all in times of need,”
Makau urged the residents to turn out in large numbers and elect Raila Odinga during the forthcoming Presidential re-election.
He said he will work with legitimately elected president and Machakos governor to ensure effective service delivery and development in Mavoko.
