The girl’s pupils of Githurai Kimbo Primary School will have a reason to smile after the school was donated with sanitary pads by the Fountain Faith Initiative.

The donation which was graced by Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo was meant to empower girl child education in Ruiru constituencies who have undergone difficulties in purchasing the sanitary pads.

According to the MP, she is determined to empower girl child education in Ruiru and the pads are for those needy children in the society.

The program which was supported by a Britain official of the Fountain Faith Initiative Madam Debora Jones is said to be embraced in different sub Counties within Kiambu County according To Gathogo.

The schools which will benefit are Kwang’ethe Primary School and St. Jones, is meant to atleast support 400 local vulnerable girls within the sub county.

“The sanitary pads is enough to support atleast 400 vulnerable girls in the sub county but more is yet to come with constant support and donation,” said the MP

The law maker said that the Inuka Sanitary Pad (ISP) project will greatly impact positively to young women who have the thirst for education and thus she has urged the pupils to take education seriously to be empowered in future.

Gathogo expressed her concerns with many school drop outs and early pregnancies and marriage which affect girl child and has fired warning to parents who marry their daughters that their days are numbered terming it as barbaric.

She has urged the well wishers to come out handy and save the girl child education which is at high risks in various section in the country not only Kiambu.

She revealed that plans are underway to be donating the sanitary pads to the schools not only in her constituency, but the entire county.
