Thika town Member of Parliament Alice Ng’ang’a may be Kiambu County’s next governor.
This is after a section of Thika residents started shouting “our governor” when she rose to address them public in Thika town on Saturday.
The jubilation happened when she took to the podium during the closing of the Thika District Business Association (TDBA) fair.
This was after the legislator said she was planning to quit politics when her term was over and leave it for the young generation who were interested in politics.
According to Waweru Nderitu, the TDBA chairman, the MP has gone beyond her expectations involving herself with common mwananchi unlike other leaders who only appear when elections are looming.
Nderitu said that he will support the legislator even if she wanted to be the governor of Kiambu come 2017 during the general election in Kenya.
The residents said that Ng’ang’a has always been there in time of needs citing the previous launching of a trust fund to benefit bright and needy students in the area.
They said that Kiandutu slum is now underway being transformed to be a better residential area in terms of security compared to the way it was before.
However, Ng’ang’a refused to speak about being the governor but said she is just fulfilling her manifesto as earlier promised during the campaign.
She assured the residents that more development was coming and wanted to work hand in hand with the people to remind her where she had forgotten.
