Reports indicate that the bodyguard to the MP was nabbed and detained at a police cell in Uganda over claims of recruiting Ugandans to register as voters to participate in the upcoming August polls in Kenya.

The MP was nowhere to be seen by Monday evening, raising more questions on whether she was in police custody or had escaped.

Police back in Kenya said they had received information that the MP's bodyguard had been disarmed and put behind bars.

"Initial reports we have indicate that the MP's bodyguard was arrested. Her car was also detained at the station. We don't know if she was arrested too but she is not at her house," a police officer at Mawero police station said as quoted by the Standard.

This comes barely a few days after ODM leader Raila Odinga claimed that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) was helping the Jubilee administration to register people from the neighboring countries as Kenyan voters.
