Deputy President William Ruto will face an acid test wooing voters from his Rift Valley backyard in the 2022 presidential bid, Kisumu Central MP Fred Ouda opined.
Speaking during an interview on KTN News on Thursday, Ouda claimed that the DP has been creating new political enemies everyday and it would handicap his own quest for the country's top seat.
"Probably, today is the worst day for Jubilee, may be the fire has just started in the palace...William Ruto may find it difficult in 2022 in the Rift Valley, because here is a situation where you just have somebody who is creating enemies every day he wakes up," said the ODM lawmaker.
The vote-rich Rift Valley has always been a key voting bloc for any presidential candidate and it's a region which the DP cannot afford to lose.
DP Ruto has already expressed interest in the top seat and has the backing of the president.
Others who have declared interest in the presidency include Governor Alfred Mutua, and opposition leaders: Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.
