A Member of Parliament has come out to explain the reason why Deputy President William Ruto was denied access to retired President Daniel Moi.
According to Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kamket the DP should have followed protocol.
Speaking on Friday, Kamket accused the DP of poor coordination between his office and the Office of the Retired President in facilitating the visit.
"A person of the stature of DP going to see the retired president is a very serious matter. The two gentlemen are not ordinary Kenyans; I thought it was cheeky for Ruto to sneak in and try to make political capital," he explained.
The MP further suggested that the DP had intended to create an impression that BaringoSenator Gideon Moi had barred the delegation from the meeting.
"There is malice in this matter. The intention was not to see retired President, the intention was to go there and pass this false narrative that Senator Gideon Moi is trying to block him. I do not believe that the Deputy President is so gullible to believe that someone like(William) Chepkut or (Charles) Keter would book an appointment for him," he said.
The botched meeting has been blamed on Gideon Moi who has declared an interest in the 2022 polls.
