Residents of Lower Eastern are in danger of facing starvation due to the current hot weather, area MP has warned.

Kangundo legislator Fabian Kyule expressed fears that farmers in Ukambani may not have good harvest this season because of drought.

"The prevailing dry weather may lead to serious famine which may adversely affect our people," he said speaking during a function in his constituency, Saturday.

Kyule called on both the national and county governments to start planning how to assist the locals and cushion them from starvation.

"The crops have already dried up and residents are in dire need of relief food. I am appealing to the national and county governments to put in place mitigation measures to ensure people do not serve in the coming months," the MP said.
