Speaking at Elimu Academy in Kisii town during an award giving ceremony to top performers of the school in the 2014 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), the Legislator said that the amounts are huge and pressing to parents.

She also said that some of the things that increase the school fees are very unreasonable requirements.

“Why should a school ask parents to pay Sh89,000 plus bus maintenance of Sh2000 and when you multiply the money with the number of students, per term its enough to buy another bus,” she said.

She called on the government to investigate where this money goes to, and if they won’t, they will be assured that the government is also involved in this.

The same was given a hand by Chwang’i Mengo from the Kisii County Assembly, who faulted the Ministry of Education on the criteria used to select form one student schools.

He called on the Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi to ensure that such does not happen, adding that it is discrimination to some of the students who performed well.
