Juja MP Francis Munyua has faulted Kiambu MCAs saying that they are just after embezzling public funds.
This is after the county assembly health committee flew to Egypt on Monday to allegedly learn more about herbal medicine.
This, they said, is aimed at gaining more knowledge on the same as they consider recommending the drugs for some diseases in the county.
According to Munyua, the MCAs could have consulted local herbalists instead of wasting public funds on such trips.
The committee is aimed at strengthening the health sector in the county and has been debating on whether to recommend herbal medicines for some dangerous diseases that could ostensibly be cured using herbal medication.
Speaking at Gachororo on Monday, Munyua said that Kiambu County is misappropriating public funds rather than initiating development projects in the wards.
“These people should be held responsible. I don’t know whether the auditor general has checked on this county but I think something is cooking here,” Munyua said.
To confirm the purpose of the trip, Kiambu County assembly clerk John Mutie said that the committee is out to research herbal drugs as Egypt is famous for consumption of herbal medicines.
