Gumbo said the speaker let the assembly down by refusing to convert the house into a committee for all members, to enable the agreemnt on some contentious issues in the now Security (Amendment) Act 2014.

The MP disclosed that he tried to advise Muturi after he realised the house was heating up, but unfortunately the speaker gave him deaf ears, which resulted into chaos in the Assembly.

He added that the opposition asked the speaker to alter the order paper, but he refused to avert chaos that emerged in the house, adding it was the power of the speaker to change the order paper.

The legislator said that Muturi could have prevented what happened in parliament on Thursday but he failed to do so, terming it as shameful and unacceptable.

Speaking in Rarieda sub-county, Gumbo asked Muturi to emulate how the former speaker Kenneth Marende, especially on how he handled house businesses after the post election violence.

He also asked the Kenya Anti-corruption and Ethics Commission (EACC) to start with the speaker if they want to investigate the National Assembly Members, because he failed to discharge his duties.

“I understand that EACC wants to investigate the conduct of some Mps, let them start with Speaker Muturi first,” said Gumbo.
