This comes after a section of political pundits suggested that Raila backs Mudavadi in order to send home the Jubilee administration under the stewardship of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

And now Gesami has termed the move ‘cowardice’ and insisted that it is only Raila who has the political will to defeat the Jubilee Party.

“I haven’t spoken about the 2017 presidential race but I am disappointed that some politicians have been pushing Raila to back an alternative candidate. The issue of Musalia Mudavadi is uncalled for because he hasn’t shown the good will to win the presidency,” he said.

“Raila has been putting the Jubilee government on toes since 2013 and he is the only politician whom I think can offer a formidable contest against the incumbent. These other backing issues should not arise at all,” he added.

Gesami who also doubles as the ODM Nyamira County chair said the former Prime Minister had the best chances given his popularity on Kenya's political scene.

“He should not back another candidate because that will be a walk over for Jubilee. The most important thing is that he competes and I am sure of victory given his undying spirit to rescue this nation from bad leadership,” he said.
