After it emerged that Cord coalition was wooing Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi to join the opposition, a lawmaker from Western has issued one condition before any deal is sealed.
Lugari MP Ayub Savula has stated that the arrangement will only be supported if Mudavadi will be selected and face President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming polls.
According to Savula, the western region was only interested in the presidency and therefore Mudavadi should be the torch bearer of any coalition that requires his services.
"The talks will only make sense if Mudavadi is the candidate because Western has already held the second slot before through Kijana Wamalwa, Moody Awori and Mudavadi himself as the Deputy Prime Minister," said Savula.
This comes barely a week after Mudavadi revealed that he has no problem working with opposition leader Raila Odinga again barely four years after their fallout.
Mudavadi's revelation came just days after Odinga stated that he is ready to shelve his presidential ambitions to support another candidate ahead of the 2017 presidential poll.
However, speaking to the Star, Savula agrees that efforts to have Raila and Mudavadi work together are welcomed
